APPLICATIONS are now open to join the Suffolk FA Youth Council for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The SFA Youth Council, proudly sponsored by R Bugg Trading Ltd, are seeking new dedicated members who are passionate about shaping the future of football in Suffolk.
Led by Suffolk FA Football Development Officer James Morley, the Youth Council plays a crucial role in voicing the aspirations and ideas of young people across the region.
James said: “Building upon the strong foundations laid in previous seasons, we aim to expand our team with enthusiastic young leaders who will contribute to the development and growth of football opportunities in Suffolk.”
What is the Suffolk FA Youth Council?
The Suffolk FA Youth Council comprises individuals aged 16 to 24 who serve as the voice of Youth in Suffolk football. Members are actively involved in influencing decisions that impact the direction of Suffolk FA, ensuring that young people's perspectives are heard and valued.
The Youth Council also focuses on personal growth, offering members valuable experiences that support their future ambitions, whether in sports or other fields.

Who Should Apply?

Successful candidates are expected to attend all scheduled meetings throughout the season, both in person and online. While unforeseen circumstances may occasionally arise, commitment to attendance is key to the success of the Youth Council.
Suffolk FA Youth Council Chair Madison Gardiner said: “This season, the Youth Council aims to build on their existing foundations and plans.
“We held our first competition at the Grassroots Festival, which featured a team celebration and explored why young people enjoy football.
“We are planning to run another competition in the upcoming season.
“Additionally, we are collaborating with FA staff to create Youth refereeing and young coaches support groups, fostering a community for these individuals across the county.
“Throughout the season, the Suffolk FA conducted Safeguarding club checks across the county, and this year, the Youth Council will be involved, allowing us to connect with numerous participants in the game.
“We will also support the delivery of youth disability sessions through coaching, refereeing, and on-the-day assistance.
“This season, we piloted parent lino courses for parents within the SGWFL, which will be expanded to other leagues over the course of the season.
“The Youth Council has many plans this year, and we are excited to implement them and move forward positively.’
