BECCLES Town Reserves are bidding to make it four county cup final appearances in five years.

They will be looking to take a step nearer to that goal when they travel to Trimley Red Devils Reserves in the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup Second Round on Saturday.

The two teams had contrasting wins in round one – Beccles beating Ransomes Sports 22-0, while Trimley required a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win to knock-out Stowupland Falcons following a 2-2 draw.

Two of the three other clubs in action on Saturday to previously win the competition will go head-to-head when Woodbridge Town Reserves host Stowmarket Town Reserves. The Old Gold & Black defeated the Woodpeckers 2-1 in the 2016-17 final.

The only other side to experience success in this competition taking part in the second round on Saturday are Walsham-le-Willows Reserves.

They lifted the trophy after defeating Stowmarket Town Reserves in both the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons.

Walsham will have to win away to Bungay Town Reserves, who were convincing 6-0 victors over Whitton United Reserves in round one, if they are to reach the last eight this time around.

Long Melford Reserves were losing semi-finalists – a narrow 1-0 loss to Stowmarket Town – two years ago, and will have to win away to Coplestonians Reserves to keep alive their chances of going a step further this season.

Framlingham Town are scheduled to host Brantham Athletic, the 2015-16 winners, in the remaining second-round fixture under the lights at Badingham Road on Tuesday.

On Sunday it is the second round in five of the Portable Space Suffolk Mixed Youth Cups in the U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16 age groups.
