Football For all
Football for All is about making sure everyone has a chance to be involved in football, regardless of age, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marital status, race, nationality, ethnic origin, colour, religion or belief, ability or disability.
It is also about:
- encouraging and increasing the involvement of groups at all levels of football by recognising that inequalities exist and taking action to address them.
- making opportunities available where currently there are few available.
- using the power of football to build a better future, in order to achieve these objectives.
- becoming a part of everything we do at The FA and within the county
At The FA, equality, diversity and inclusion means valuing and celebrating our differences. Nurturing the right working, social and footballing environment and culture; meaning everyone can be themselves and develop a local thriving game within Suffolk.
Suffolk FA recognises that individuals and communities may experience unlawful discrimination on the grounds of their sex, age, disability, ethnicity (including nationality and race), gender-reassignment, sexual orientation, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership status.
We believe that equal opportunities for all is a basic human right and actively oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination. We aim to actively celebrate the diversity of society, especially within Suffolk and are striving to promote and reflect this diversity within the Association’s structure and developments.
At Suffolk FA we are committed to increasing opportunities for all and increase the involvement of all diverse communities at all levels of football by taking positive steps to address any barriers. Equality and Inclusion has become and is instilled as an integral part of all the work that we do here at Suffolk FA.
It is paramount that equality and inclusion is incorporated into our project planning, organisation and delivery by our staff to develop football and increase participation. We aim to promote the Association’s wide ranging equality agenda across the FA’s four strategic goals of Growth and Retention, Better Players, Running the Game and Raising Standards. It outlines the action that the Association take to ensure equality of opportunity for those administering and playing the game.
The FA launched a new three-year equality, diversity and inclusion plan called ‘In Pursuit of Progress’.
The plan is part of our commitment, announced in January 2018, to ensure the diversity of those leading and governing football better reflects what we see on the pitch in the modern game today. It also highlights the importance and need of support for mental and health & well-being within football for all involved.
Our new strategy will deliver initiatives primarily focused around gender and ethnicity across our general workforce and leadership roles, including coaching staff across the England teams.
In 2014, we introduced English football’s inclusion and anti-discrimination action plan and have continued to make good progress to improve equality, diversity and inclusion across English football.
This includes the formation of The FA Inclusion Advisory Board [IAB], strict anti-discrimination regulations with robust reporting mechanisms and tough sanctions across the game, clear inclusion structures for every County FA with many progressing through the levels of the Equality Standard for Sport, and we meet Sport England’s Code for Sports Governance.
