All set for the 2023 Grassroots Festival

THE Suffolk FA Grassroots Festival returns this weekend at a new venue for 2023.

THE Suffolk FA Grassroots Festival returns this weekend at a new venue for 2023.

This year’s festival is taking place at Kesgrave High School – the fifth different venue in the history of the event – and is being hosted by Kesgrave Kestrels FC.

Age groups from U7 to U15 for girls and boys will be in attendance throughout the weekend including an adult disability and Man v Fat showcase fixture. There are more than 160 teams signed up to attend.

Ipswich Town FC, Man v Fat and the British Heart Foundation will all have a stall at the festival.

Kesgrave Kestrels FC will be providing food and drink throughout the two-day festival, which will be cash only.

There will also be an ice cream van on site, while DE Photos will be taking and selling souvenir photographs on site all weekend.

Suffolk FA Football Development Officer James Morley, who is organising the festival, reminded teams to register upon arrival and to make a member of Suffolk FA staff aware if any of their players are not to be photographed.

Although teams will be responsible for supplying their own first aid, a qualified first-aider will be in attendance over the weekend.

Referees will be supplied for all 9v9 and 11v11 festivals and some referees will be U18s and therefore wearing green armbands to highlight their age.

James said: “The festival is as much a celebration of this season for the referees as it is for the teams, so please respect this.

We hope this is a great way to end your season and celebrate Suffolk Youth football across the weekend.

“Fingers crossed we will get some sunshine over the weekend, so please don’t forget your sunscreen.”
