Youth Cup Semi-Finals Day Walsham Mar 2020 2

Plans for Youth Cup semi-finals unveiled

PLANS for this season’s Suffolk Youth Cup and Plate Semi-Finals have been confirmed.

PLANS for this season’s Suffolk Youth Cup and Plate Semi-Finals have been confirmed.

There will be four venues for the semi-finals played out over two weekends across the 15 competitions for boys and girls aged between 12 and 18.

The first matches will take place on Sunday, 30th April, with 11 games at Bungay Town FC, seven at Walsham-le-Willows FC and one at The New Croft in Haverhill.

The following week on Sunday, May 7th, a further 11 matches will be played at Copleston High School in Ipswich.

With the Girls’ League Finals Day on May 7th as well, efforts have been made to avoid fixture clashes to add to the complexity of the Youth Cup competitions.

Suffolk FA County Cups Competitions Manager Adrian Moye said: “I’m pleased that the culmination of this season’s Sunday Youth competitions will see Bungay Town, Walsham-le-Willows and Copleston High School, under the organisation of Coplestonians FC, combine with The New Croft in Haverhill to host the semi-finals over two weekends.

“I am indebted to these great clubs, but I know they will enjoy the occasion even though it puts pressure on their club support network with car parking, refreshments and manning the gates all extra responsibilities.

“There will be a small entrance fee for spectator parking and admission but all players will receive a snack from the host club, so they won't go home hungry.

“The finals will be played at The New Croft Haverhill on Sunday, May 14th 2023, where 11 Cups and four Plates will be the rewards for a competitive season.

“Both the semi-finals and finals will take the format of a ‘Football Festival’, with kick-off times spread throughout the day. They are always great occasions, so I hope that the teams will see a great support from their supporters.”

Admission prices for the semi-finals will be adults £2, 12-16 years £1, with children under-12 free when accompanied by an adult. Car parking will be £1.

This is the first season the Suffolk youth Cups have been held since Covid caused the 2019-20 competitions to be cancelled. Action is pictured above from the Suffolk Youth Cup Semi-Finals Day held at Walsham-le-Willows FC in March 2020 just before Covid struck.
