SUFFOLK FA are running four Referees Courses this summer.

The FA Referee Course is designed for anyone aged 14 and up who wants to join the tens of thousands of referees who operate week in week out on local parks, throughout the English football pyramid, up to those who officiate The FA Cup Final and on the International stage.

As a referee you play an integral role in ensuring all participants enjoy their match day experience, helping create a competitive, fair, safe and enjoyable playing environment.

Whether you want to referee in youth and adult leagues, men's or women's football or have aspirations of one day walking the ball out at Wembley Stadium, The FA Referees Course is the starting point for your refereeing career.

Refereeing is not only rewarding in a football environment, but the social and life skills that come from becoming a referee extend far beyond your initial expectations.

Learners will be required to complete online training modules: The FA Guide To The Laws Of The Game and Safeguarding For All certificates.

After they have completed the pre-course requirements, the next stage is to attend one of the face-to-face courses held around the county.

The face-to-face element comprises of two sessions, one held on a midweek evening, the other one full training day. There is a mix of training room and practical activities delivered by FA Tutors which will give you the opportunity to practise and enhance your existing knowledge, alongside reinforcing the learning from the online module.

The cost of the course is £125, inclusive of basic equipment such as a whistle, notebook, red and yellow cards and assistant referee flags.

Also included in the cost of the course, are two mentoring visits from a skilled Suffolk FA Referee Developer, who will provide you with support and feedback on match day, giving you the confidence to complete your first five matches required to complete the qualification and then beyond.
