Buildbase has launched the Community Club Award for non-league football clubs that have gone above and beyond to support their local community through the pandemic.

Two top prizes of £25,000 worth of building materials are up for grabs. They will go to the clubs that can best demonstrate support for their community as well as how they will use the materials to revamp their facilities.

Suffolk clubs have been successful in the past, with Needham Market and Stowmarket Town winning and Felixstowe & Walton United and Kirkley & Pakefield reaching the final stages.

The Buildbase Community Club Award is open to all clubs taking part in the Buildbase FA Trophy and Buildbase FA Vase competitions. Clubs have until March 28th 2021 to apply online here

Six finalists will be invited to present their case for the award and pitch their renovation project to a panel of judges from Buildbase and the FA. Winners will be announced in April with a special presentation at the Buildbase FA Trophy and Vase Final in May.

Clubs will be encouraged to get fans to support their application through the Buildbase website and social media. The club with the most votes will score a ‘golden ticket’ with automatic entry to the final.

Over the coming weeks Buildbase branches across England will be helping clubs to plan and cost their projects. The merchant is offering trade prices on building materials to clubs taking part in the Buildbase FA Trophy and Buildbase FA Vase.

Buildbase has been giving away building materials to help renovate non-league football clubs since it became the title sponsor of the FA Trophy and FA Vase in 2016.

Paul Roche, Managing Director at Buildbase said: “If you’re a non-league club that has helped the local community through the pandemic and is in desperate need of a renovation, then applying for this award is a must for 2021.

“Over the last year we have heard so many heart-warming stories about clubs who have gone the extra mile to help their community get through the pandemic.

“We decided that this is something to be celebrated and rewarded, so this year we will not only be supporting clubs in dire need of renovation, but also those who have made a real difference to the people in their local areas.”

Buildbase Non League Ambassador and talkSPORT presenter Tony Incenzo will be helping to raise awareness of the Award and encouraging clubs to apply.

He said: “I am so pleased that the true altruistic spirit of the Non-League family has been shining through during this terrible Coronavirus pandemic.

“Our wonderful clubs have been extremely busy helping vulnerable people in their communities throughout the lockdown with some truly fantastic initiatives. They provide every reason for us all to be really proud to support our local football teams.”
