Super Sunday Finals 2018

THE 2019-20 Suffolk Women’s Cup Final is to be played as part of ‘Super Sunday’.

THE HomeStore Self Storage Suffolk Women’s Cup Final is to be played as part of ‘Super Sunday’.

Bloomfields, home of Needham Market FC, will stage three of the 2019-20 finals delayed by the coronavirus pandemic on ‘Super Sunday’ on September 27th.

The Suffolk Sunday Shield Final will be played first at 10am, followed by the Suffolk Sunday Trophy at 12.45pm, both on the 3G pitch.

‘Super Sunday’ will conclude with the HomeStore Self Storage Suffolk Women’s Cup Final on the grass pitch at 3pm.

Suffolk FA County Cups Competitions Manager Adrian Moye said: “’Super Sunday’ this year will have a new feel to it with the inclusion of the Women’s Cup Final.

“With Portman Road unavailable during the main season, the showpiece Women’s Cup Final will be played on a Sunday afternoon just like their league games and I am hoping to see a good socially-distanced crowd at Needham Market FC.

“Bloomfield provides an opportunity for the Sunday Shield and Sunday Trophy games to be played on the 3G pitch and the programme of the day and the utilisation of the pitch locations is designed to give enough time and space between games for social distancing reasons.

“The Veterans’ Cup is normally part of this three-finals-in-one-day occasion, but with the Veterans’ League also having their finals quite close to September 27th, the final of the County Veterans Cup will be having its own standalone final on a date and at a venue to be decided.

“I think it should be mentioned that while I organise the Suffolk FA County Cup competitions this year has seen some very challenging obstacles to overcome administratively with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“COVID-19 protocols sadly now seem the norm but they in themselves require extra effort to ensure that Suffolk FA can stage these games in the safest way possible, and we have received fantastic support from the host clubs.

“The club officials and players of the participating teams are also affected by additional requests to ensure the environment is safe and secure, yet all have reacted positively and responsibly to the situation and protocols requested of them.

“I’m proud Suffolk FA will be able to conclude these events, providing some excitement and support at the start of this trickiest of all seasons. It would have been so easy to draw the line on the COVID-19 interrupted 2019-20 season and not completed the county cups.

“To think that teams such as Brett Vale will be playing in their first Suffolk FA County Cup Final will be a fitting testament to the completion of the 2019-20 County Cup season.”

Tickets for Super Sunday will be made available via the Suffolk FA website from Monday.
