Big weekend ahead of county cup ties

THERE’S a big weekend of county cup football in store on Saturday and Sunday.

THERE’S a big weekend of county cup football in store on Saturday and Sunday.

The two outstanding quarter-finals of the Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup take place on Saturday afternoon.

Coplestonians and Lakenheath meet in Ipswich for the right to face Beccles Town, while the winners of the Stowmarket Town and Old Newton United tie will take on Woodbridge Town.

The following day sees the semi-finals of this season’s HomeStore Self Storage Suffolk Women’s Cup.

Brett Vale and East Bergholt Utd will both be bidding to reach the final at Portman Road for the first time when they line-up at Hadleigh Utd FC.

The other tie is a repeat of last season’s final as holders Ipswich Town take on Needham Market at Stowmarket Town FC. The Needham Market team are pictured above in a huddle before the final which Ipswich Town won 8-0.

Brandon Town Community and Kitchener Taverners will try again to play their Rushmere Golf Club Suffolk Sunday Cup Semi-Final at Bury Town FC, postponed due to a waterlogged pitch last weekend, this time with a 2.30pm kick-off.

Also looking to take their place at ‘Super Sunday’ – when four cup finals are staged on one day on Sunday, April 26th at Needham Market FC – will be the four teams participating in the Suffolk Sunday Shield.

Haverhill & Hove Albion square off against Sizewell Argyle at Ransomes Sports FC in Ipswich, while Rushmere & Diamonds meet Baltic United at Old Newton Utd FC.

There are also two Suffolk Sunday Trophy Quarter-Finals – Chantry Phoenix v Elmswell Athletic and Thrasher United v Kesgrave Kestrels – with the winners set to meet in the last four.

As well as it being the first Crown Imperial Youth Cup Semi-Finals Day at the Morrish Stadium, home of Walsham-le-Willows FC, there are a raft of Boys’ and Girls’ Cup and Plate quarter-final fixtures.

Details of admission prices to all adult county cup semi-finals can be found on the home page of the Suffolk FA website.
