SUFFOLK official George Byrne has been appointed as Reserve Assistant Referee for this season’s Leasing.Com Trophy Final.

The final between Salford City and Portsmouth is taking place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, April 5th.

The referee will be Carl Boyeson, Assistant Referees Craig Taylor and Michael Webb and Fourth Official Charles Breakspear.

It is the latest prestigious appointment for 27-year-old George, who lives near Mildenhall.

In November last year George (pictured above) was an Assistant Referee for the England-Under-17s versus Czech Republic fixture at Solihull Moors FC.

Suffolk FA Chief Executive Richard Neal said: “This is a fantastic appointment for George and everyone at Suffolk FA wishes him all the best for the occasion.”
