Beccles complete a good week for club

BECCLES Town have reached the semi-finals of the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.

BECCLES Town completed a good week for the club by reaching the semi-finals of this season’s Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.

They defeated Whitton United 2-0 in Saturday’s quarter-final tie – just four days after the club won the Suffolk FA Groundsman of the Year competition sponsored by Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd.

The match went ahead on the club’s 3G pitch and the result sees Beccles Town join Woodbridge Town in the semi-finals. Beccles Town Reserves (white shirts) are pictured in action above against Acle Unigted Reserves (red & white striped shirts) earlier this season.

The other two ties were postponed, so six teams will be in the semi-final draw which will take place during the Non-League hour of Thursday Night Sports Social on BBC Radio Suffolk from 8.30pm.

Three of the four Suffolk Sunday Trophy quarter-finals were postponed due to waterlogged pitches, but the one tie that did go ahead saw Hardy run out 5-1 winners at The Feathers Reserves.

Conversely, three of the Suffolk Veterans’ Cup last-eight fixtures were completed, with Cockfield United reaching the semi-finals courtesy of a 4-2 victory away to BOCA Norman Warrior.

They join Bury Town, who were 3-1 winners at home to Bungay Town, and Woodbridge Town, 3-0 winners at Hadleigh United, in the last four.

The semi-final draws for both competitions will be held during the Non-League hour of next week’s Thursday Night Sports Social on BBC Radio Suffolk from 8.30pm.

The majority of the Crown Imperial Boys’ Cup and Plate quarter-final fixtures and the Girls’ Cup quarter-final fixtures went ahead on Sunday morning.

In the Crown Imperial Suffolk Boys’ Under-16 Cup Walsham-le-Willows defeated AFC Sudbury, last season’s losing finalists, 1-0.

The semi-final draws will be announced via the Suffolk FA Twitter feed from 12.30pm on Monday.

This week sees the four quarter-finals in this season's Suffolk Boys' Under-18 Midweek Cup scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
