Stowmarket reach last 16 in FA Vase

STOWMARKET Town have progressed to the last 16 of this season's FA Vase.

STOWMARKET Town have progressed to the last 16 of this season's Buildbase FA Vase.

However, fellow Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division sides Woodbridge Town and Kirkley & Pakefield both bowed out of the competition on Saturday.

Stowmarket reached the fifth round after beating Glebe 3-0. The side produced a convincing win in front of a crowd of 510 – a record number of spectators for a competitive match at Greens Meadow.

Stowmarket now face an away trip to fellow Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Wroxham FC for a place in the quarter finals, to be played on Saturday, February 8th 2020.

Two other local sides, Kirkley & Pakefield FC and Woodbridge Town, also made it to the fourth round of the FA Vase however on the day it was not meant to be.

Kirkley & Pakefield travelled to the west midlands to play Sporting Khalsa of the Midland League Premier Division. After a goalless first 90 minutes, the home team scored twice without reply in extra time to break the hearts of the north Suffolk outfit.

Woodbridge Town, currently sitting seventh in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, welcomed Plymouth Parkway to Notcutts Park.

In a tight match a 75th minute goal from the visitors was enough to end a terrific run in the competition for the Woodpeckers.
