Possible cup final appearance in sight

CLUBS are closing in on a possible Suffolk Primary Cup Final appearance.

CLUBS are closing in on a possible cup final appearance in this season’s McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup.

Kesgrave Kestrels, the sole survivors from the three first-round ties, have won three matches to reach the last 16 of the competition, while other clubs have fought their way through two rounds so far.

A win in Saturday’s fourth round will put teams just two more wins away from lining-up in this season’s showpiece occasion.

AFC Oulton, who featured in the lowest-scoring fixture in round three – a 1-0 win away to Wenhaston United Reserves – will be able to call on home comforts against Kesgrave Kestrels.

The draw for the quarter-finals will not take place until the week beginning Monday, January 20th.

Sunday sees eight ties scheduled in the third round of this season’s Suffolk Veterans’ Cup.

Holders Whitton United will travel to AFC Hoxne, who were runners-up to Woodbridge Town following a 4-1 loss in the 2017-18 final. AFC Hoxne (blue & white shirts) are pictured above in action against Woodbridge (black & white shirts) in that final at AFC Sudbury.

Woodbridge, meanwhile, will entertain Beccles Caxton.

The quarter-final draw will be held in the week beginning Monday, January 20th.
