Grassroots Festival preview Sept 2019

Festival to kick-off new season in style

THE new season for Youth teams will kick-off in style on Sunday.

THE forthcoming 2019-20 season for Youth teams will kick-off in style at Kirkley & Pakefield FC in Lowestoft on Sunday.

The club in Walmer Road will be hosting the KBB Pre-Season Grassroots Festival 2019.

This will be the first time that the festival, which has been staged in and around Ipswich since 2011, has been held in the north of the county. Action from the festival held at Whitton United FC in May is pictured above.

There will be more than 70 teams taking part in the festival, bringing the total participation in KBB Grassroots Festivals in 2019 to 250 teams!

The following six festivals will be taking place from 10am to 12 noon:

  • U7 Mixed
  • U9 Mixed
  • U11 Mixed
  • U13 Mixed
  • U12 Girls
  • U14 Girls

They will be followed by four more festivals from 1pm to 3pm:

  • U8 Mixed
  • U10 Mixed
  • U12 Mixed
  • U13 Girls

Ipswich Town Community and Suffolk Footgolf will be in attendance on the day and supporting the festival.

Suffolk FA Mini-Soccer & Youth Football Development Officer James Morley, who is co-organising the event, said: “We are really excited to run this extension of our KBB Grassroots Festival and provide more opportunities for clubs and teams from different areas of the county to get involved and kick-off the season in style.

“We are only a couple of days away from the festival taking place and we are in the process of getting everything ready and can’t wait to be at Kirkley & Pakefield on Sunday to get the festival underway.

“A massive thank you goes out to Kirkley & Pakefield FC for their help in organising the event and creating a brand-new festival.

“Also, a massive thank you to KBB who are our long-term sponsors, without their support, before, during and after the festival we wouldn’t have been able to get our festivals to where they are today!

“Finally, I would like to wish good luck to all teams over the weekend and we hope you all enjoy the festival as much as each member of Suffolk FA enjoy their weekend.”
