Four SIL sides in last eight of Senior Cup

FOUR SIL sides are through to the quarter-finals of the Suffolk Senior Cup.

THE Macron SIL will have four representatives in the quarter-final draw of this season’s CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup.

Coplestonians, Crane Sports and Old Newton United all recorded impressive victories over Thurlow Nunn League Division One North opposition in Saturday’s second-round ties to join Henley Athletic in the last eight.

Crane Sports, the 2016-17 runners-up, produced arguably the result of the day, disposing of Lakenheath 5-1. Cranes (blue shirts) are pictured above in possession against Lakenheath (green shirts) during Saturday's tie at Greshams.

There were also good wins for Old Newton United, who defeated last season’s runners-up Cornard United 4-0, and Coplestonians, 2-1 winners at home to Needham Market Reserves.

The only Thurlow Nunn side to come out on top against SIL opposition were Debenham LC, who beat Bourne Vale United 5-2.

Leiston Reserves avenged their 2-1 loss at Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves at the same stage of the competition last season by the same scoreline.

No new date has yet been arranged for the tie between Ipswich Wanderers and AFC Sudbury, which was postponed on Friday due to floodlight problems, while Framlingham Town will host Ipswich Town Under-18s on Tuesday, December 3rd.

The draw for the quarter-finals will be filmed and announced on Saturday, November 23rd via the Suffolk FA Twitter feed simultaneously with being broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk.

Spexhall Huntsman & Hounds hit double figures in the Suffolk Veterans’ Cup on Sunday afternoon.

They defeated Framlingham Town 10-0, while Woodbridge Town hit eight and Bury Town, Hadleigh United and holders Whitton United each scored seven times to book their place in Tuesday’s second-round draw.

Earlier on Sunday there were goals galore in the Crown Imperial Suffolk Boys’ Cups at U12, U13, U14 and U16 level.

The draws for the Boys’ U14, Boys’ U15 and Boys’ U16 Plate competitions have been postponed, so the revised schedule for draws for this week is as follows:
