Holders stand in Mildenhall's way

THE semi-final draw has been made for the Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup.

MILDENHALL Town will have to defeat holders AFC Sudbury if they are to reach the Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup Final for the first time.

The two Academy sides were paired together in Thursday night’s draw, which took place as the four quarter-final ties were being played.

All four matches were won by the away sides – Mildenhall coming out on top 4-2 at Haverhill Rovers and AFC Sudbury easing to a 6-1 success at Kirkley & Pakefield.

Walsham-le-Willows remain on course to reach their second Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup Final in the space of three years.

The 2017 runners-up – Walsham lost 5-2 to AFC Sudbury – were 5-0 winners away to Needham Market.

They will now face Felixstowe & Walton United in the last four, after the Seasiders won a penalty shoot-out 4-3 to edge past Framlingham Town following a 1-1 draw.

Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup Quarter-Finals: Framlingham Town 1 Felixstowe & Walton Utd 1 – Felixstowe & Walton Utd won 4-3 on pens, Haverhill Rovers 2 Mildenhall Town 4, Kirkley & Pakefield 1 AFC Sudbury 6, Needham Market 0 Walsham-le-Willows 5.

Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup Semi-Final Draw: AFC Sudbury v Mildenhall Town, Walsham-le-Willows v Felixstowe & Walton Utd. Ties to be played at neutral venues in the week commencing March 18th 2019, kick-offs 7.45pm.
