Sporting 87 handed West Suffolk derby

THE draw has been made for the second round of this season's Suffolk Junior Cup.

SPORTING 87 will entertain Cockfield United in a West Suffolk derby in the second round of this season’s Suffolk Junior Cup.

After winning 5-2 at Brandon Town – losing semi-finalists in each of the last two seasons – Sporting 87 now face opponents who play one division below them in the Touchline SIL.

Holders AFC Kesgrave, who defeated Trimley Red Devils 3-2 in last season's final at Portman Road, will be on the road to fellow SIL Division One side Mendlesham.

Bures United, winners of the Suffolk Primary Cup for the past two years, have been handed a home tie against Kesgrave Kestrels. Both sides had a bye in the first round.

Bramford Road Old Boys, who beat Ipswich Valley Rangers 10-1 on Saturday, have a home tie versus Old Newton United.

Stanford have now merged with Ellingham and affiliated with Norfolk FA, meaning 2017 winners Bacton United 89 receive an away win walkover.

Ufford Sports, 3-1 winners at home to Kirton Athletic, will travel to Ipswich to face Ransomes Sports. Ufford Sports (tangerine & black) are pictured in action above against Kirton Athletic (blue & white stripes) in their first-round tie.
