MENDLESHAM will be aiming to end AFC Kesgrave’s grip on the Suffolk Junior Cup on Saturday.

Mendlesham and AFC Kesgrave, who both play in Division One of the Touchline SIL, had byes in the first round of this season’s competition, but now meet in round two.

AFC YourShirts and Bures United, who are both playing in the competition this season after stepping up from the Suffolk Primary Cup, have home advantage this weekend.

Essex & Suffolk Border League Division One side Bures, who beat AFC Yourshirts in both the 2017 and 2018 finals, host Kesgrave Kestrels, currently bottom of Division Two in the SIL and without a point after six matches.

AFC YourShirts, who occupy eight place in SIL Division Two, entertain Tuddenham 08, who sit in 12th place – one off the foot of the table – in Cambridgeshire County League Division 1B after taking two points from their opening four matches.

Ufford Sports, 3-1 winners at home to Kirton Athletic in the first round, travel to fellow SIL side Ransomes Sports, who are fourth in Division One and will be favourites to progress at the expense of their Division Two visitors who are without a win so far in their six league fixtures.

The first match in the second round of the Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup takes place on Saturday when Walsham-le-Willows host lower-league Coplestonians. Six of the other seven ties are scheduled for two weeks’ time.
