Cops and Haughley both hit six in cup

TWO teams each scored six times in the first round of the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.

TWO teams each scored six times in the first round of this season’s Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup on Saturday.

Coplestonians were leading Wenhaston 6-0 when one of the Cops’ players dislocated his kneecap after 75 minutes. Wenhaston have asked that the result stands.

Haughley United also found the net six times, away to Grundisburgh, in another all-Touchline SIL tie.

Trimley Red Devils’ Dan Abbott (No.9) is pictured above shaping to score his side’s second goal against Achilles. Abbott scored twice and was then sent off after receiving two yellow cards, but Trimley added two further goals to win 4-0.

Hadleigh United, the 2015 winners, defeated Claydon 3-0 while Whitton United won 2-1 at home to Haverhill Rovers.

The draw for the second round will be announced via the Suffolk FA Twitter feed at 12.30pm on Tuesday.

Whitton United also had a good win on Sunday in the first round of this season’s Suffolk Veterans’ Cup – 8-1 away to Ipswich Park.

ETC Lowestoft also put eight past Waveney and Sole Bay United did likewise against FC Railway to book their place in round two.

There were goals galore in the ten ties that took place in the Crown Imperial Boys’ Under-12, Under-13, Under-14 and Under-16 Cups on Sunday.

A total of 74 goals were scored, with AFC Sudbury leading the way with a 14-0 success in the derby match at Cornard Dynamos Blues in the Under-16 cup.
