Junior Cup holders entertain Hundon

IT'S the last 16 of this season’s Suffolk Junior Cup on Saturday.

THE TOP two teams in Division One of the Touchline SIL meet in a mouthwatering clash in the last 16 of this season’s Suffolk Junior Cup on Saturday.

Leaders Bildeston Rangers will entertain Old Newton United, who are one point behind them in second spot, in arguably the tie of the third round.

The two teams have already met in the league this season, drawing 1-1 at Old Newton in early September.

Bildeston have yet to taste defeat in any competition this season, winning 2-1 at Senior Division side Grundisburgh in the last round of the Bob Coleman Cup a fortnight ago.

Holders AFC Kesgrave host Hundon, who play in Senior A in the Kershaw Cambridgeshire County League and were 8-1 winners against Kirkley & Pakefield Under-23s in the previous round.

Kesgrave Kestrels also have home advantage, hosting 2017 winners Bacton United 89

AFC YourShirts, runners-up in the Suffolk Primary Cup in each of the last two seasons, will be looking to progress to the last eight at home to Shotley. AFC YourShirts players (red & black striped shirts) are pictured before that final against Bures United, who won 2-0, at Portman Road.

The remaining Suffolk Sunday Trophy tie between Monarchs, last season’s runners-up, and The Kings Arms is scheduled for Sunday morning after being abandoned a fortnight ago.

Sunday afternoon sees eight ties in the third round of the Suffolk Veterans’ Cup, with holders Woodbridge Town at Suffolk Police.
