Football Futures Coaching Day Aug 2018

Football Futures stage first event

THE first Football Futures event of the 2018-19 season has taken place.

THE first Suffolk FA Football Futures event of the 2018-19 season, sponsored by R Bugg Trading Ltd, saw Young Leaders experience aspects of a Level 1 coaching course.

The Football Futures Coaching Experience Day took place at Ransomes Sports Club in Ipswich and had 18 leaders, aged between 14 and 22, in attendance.

The day was led by Suffolk FA County Coach Developer Jamie Godbold, along with Jourdan Kiwomya, Alex Shipp and Isabel Chaplin, who are members of the Suffolk Youth Council.

The day featured ice breakers which included a game of zap and making chairs with balloons, creating newspaper front covers based on the England DNA, a communication workshop, practical football sessions, leadership workshop and an Animal XI.

Suffolk FA Mini Soccer & Youth Football Development Officer James Morley said: “It was a great first event of the season and sets up the Football Futures programme for a successful season ahead with the next event already in the process of being organised; this will hopefully be announced soon.

“A big thanks to Jamie for taking time out of his schedule to lead the day and provide the Young Leaders, in some cases, with a great first coaching experience. Also to Jourdan, Alex and Isabel for leading on their own workshops around communication and leadership, passing over their knowledge and Leadership Academy experience to the Young Leaders.”
