Premier Cup Enters Fourth Dimension

FOURTH officials will be used for the first time from the first round in this season’s Omni Freight Services Suffolk Premier Cup.

They have only previously been used for semi-finals and finals, but a fourth official will be between the dugouts at Wednesday evening’s first round tie between Long Melford and Ipswich Town at Stoneylands.

Facilitated by the Suffolk FA Refereeing Department, the fourth officials will be used to support the refereeing team to further increase performances throughout the competition, as well as acting development opportunities for some of the county’s officials.

Suffolk FA’s Senior Referee Development Officer Alan Dale said: “I am delighted that we are able to appoint fourth officials throughout the competition.

“As part of a referee’s personal development, it is invaluable to be able to officiate in the county’s highest-level competition, as well as to learn from their colleagues.

“I am sure that officials will all benefit from the opportunity, as well as improving the running of the competition.”

If you are interested in becoming a referee, there are two new courses available to book now in November 2017.
