Non-League Day has become an annual fixture on the non-league football calendar in recent years.
It was set up in 2010 by James Doe as a social media experiment, after he was inspired by a pre-season trip to Devon to watch Queens Park Rangers play at Tavistock.
The day is now backed by Premier League and Football League clubs, MPs, celebrities, media organisations, charities and, most importantly, the non-league clubs themselves as well as the fans who turn out on the day.
Among those Suffolk clubs taking part in this year’s event are AFC Sudbury, Felixstowe & Walton United, Newmarket Town and Walsham-le-Willows.
Walsham will set the tone for the weekend when they host Gorleston in the Premier Division of the Thurlow Nunn League on Friday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
The club are staging Fri-Day Pie-Day by offering a pie and a pint for a fiver – plus chips for free. Admission to the match will be pay what you like.
At AFC Sudbury on Saturday local children aged under 11 will gain free entry to their Buildbase FA Trophy Preliminary Round tie versus Aylesbury United, kick-off 3pm.
Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting the club office on 01787 376213 or by emailing afcsudbury@gmail.com
Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division leaders Felixstowe & Walton United are advertising their match as ‘Pay what you Want’ versus Ely City on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
Newmarket Town, who host Histon in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division at 3pm, are charging adults just £2, with free entry for children.
