IPSWICH Wanderers Women will this weekend be bidding to reach their first ever final of the Suffolk FA Women’s Cup sponsored by HomeStore Self Storage.
Standing in their way in Sunday’s semi-final will be Ipswich Town Ladies, who will be aiming to reach their sixth final in the last seven seasons.
Ipswich play in the FA Women’s Premier League South East Division One – two leagues higher than Wanderers, who are in East Region Women’s League Division One.
Holders Ipswich, who demolished Kirkley & Pakefield Ladies in last season’s final, will start firm favourites to progress in the tie, which kicks-off at 1.30pm at Whitton United’s King George V ground.
The same will apply to Lowestoft Town Ladies in their last-four meeting with Bacton United Women, who play three leagues lower than their FA Women’s Premier League South East Division One opponents in the Suffolk Girls’ & Women’s League.
The tie was originally scheduled to be held at Bungay Town, but the club notified Suffolk FA that their pitch was not going to be fit and Woodbridge Town have stepped in to host the fixture at an earlier kick-off time of 11.30am.
