SUFFOLK FA will be hosting their first County Sport Conference next month.
The free event will take place at the University of Suffolk’s Waterfront Campus on Tuesday, March 21st from 7pm-9pm.
The conference will focus on Women’s & Girls’ Strategy and increasing female participation.
The FA’s Participation and Development Director, Kelly Simmons MBE will be presenting on the evening. Kelly will discuss the FA Strategy, national trends and the FA’s target to double female participation by 2020.
Kelly said: “I am excited to be to coming to Suffolk and discussing the key trends that will directly impact increasing participation across the county.
“The FA has a defined objective to double female participation by 2020 and I look forward to sharing the core focus areas, to enable this with the sport community in Suffolk.”
Kelly is a member of the UEFA Grassroots Panel and the FIFA Women’s Committee and one of the first women on the Senior Management Team at the FA.
She is a figurehead for women’s football and has led the sport in its move to a professional game.
Kelly has been involved with the FA for almost 20 years and plays a key role in the implementation of the FA’s National Game Strategy.
In addition to Kelly, Sport England will also be in attendance. Sport England Local Government Relationship Manager, Marie Hartley will be delivering on the evening to discuss the core focus for the new Sport England Strategy and the This Girl Can Campaign.
Suffolk FA Girls & Women’s Football Development Officer, Paige Shorten said: “I am very excited that Suffolk FA will be hosting the County Sport Conference in March.
“The evening will be tailored around inspiring females to engage with sport in our county as well as finding out local and national updates from the FA and Sport England.
“We would love to see volunteers, coaches, teachers and participants at the conference to network, share best practice and drive forward female sport in our county.”
In addition, the free evening will also provide attendees with the opportunity for a Question and Answer session with Kelly and Marie.
