The first Quarter-Final to be drawn out of the hat sees the Suffolk & Ipswich League's Capel Plough host Ridgeons Eastern Counties League First Division high flyers Brantham Athletic.
Capel have had mixed results in the League so far and currently sit just below mid-table in the SIL Senior Division. Top goalscorer Stephen Morrison has seven goals in twelve appearances and will be the danger man. Last time out in the Senior Cup Capel picked an impressive 1-0 away win at Felixstowe United who are second in the table, so it shows they are capable of pulling off an upset.
Brantham on the other hand are chasing promotion to the Ridgeons Premier Division and are third in the table with games in hand on the leaders. Brantham's Oliver Mann and David Grimwood have scored a combined total of twenty nine goals in twenty nine games and Capel will have to contain the duo if they are to progress to the Semi-Finals.
Elsewhere in the draw, the all-SIL showdown sees Woodbridge Athletic entertain Grundisburgh.
Athletic have been enjoying an excellent season to date and sit fifth place in the Senior Division table, six points off the top with a game in hand. So far in the competition they have had a thumping 6-1 win over Brandon Town which they followed with a hard-fought 2-0 win over last season's Semi-Finalists Corton.
Their Quarter-Final opponents Grundisburgh are the most successful team in the history of the Senior Cup, lifting the much sought-after trophy on six occasions. This season they have not enjoyed the same dominance in the SIL Senior Division that they have previously, and are unusually ninth in the table although they do have games in hand. They will be hoping that a victory on Saturday will kick-start their League campaign as players battle it out for a starting place in their Semi-Final line-up.
The other remaining Ridgeons First Division club left in the Suffolk FA Senior Cup is Team Bury. They face a tough trip to Ipswich-based SIL outfit Coplestonians.
Coplestonians may be struggling near the bottom of the Senior Division, but they thumped Stowmarket Town 6-1 in Round Two and have shown they have pedigree when it comes to giant killing. Before that, in Round One they edged a five-goal thriller against Framlingham Town.
Team Bury will be missing seven players who have been called up to represent Suffolk FA U18s in The FA County Youth Cup against Birmingham FA. The club opted to fulfil their Senior Cup fixture regardless and chose not to postpone the match. So far in the competition Team Bury have clinched 3-1 victories over Stowupland Falcons and Ipswich Athletic. They will be hoping to take a third SIL scalp.
The final tie will see the fifth SIL side left in the last eight, Ransomes Sports, host the Kershaw Premier League's Lakenheath.
Ransomes may be just above mid-table in the SIL Senior Division, but they have only lost twice all season and have the best defence in the division. They have three games in hand on the leaders, and have drawn six times this season in thirteen games so if they could've turned some of those results into wins they could have had a healthy lead at the top of the table. However just eighteen goals in thirteen matches has been their problem to date.
Ransomes booked their Quarter-Final place with consecutive away wins, firstly over Ridgeons First Division side Long Melford and then Westerfield United in Round Two.
Ironically their opponents Lakenheath have the opposite problem. They have had no draws yet this season and have netted thirty seven goals in just twelve league matches. However their leaky defence has conceded twenty three goals and leaves them sitting in eighth place in the Kershaw Premier League.
In Round Two they over-powered last season's Suffolk FA Junior Cup winners Achilles on the day, running out 7-1 winners in the replayed match having edged out Hundon 3-2 in the First Round.
All four Quarter-Finals look evenly matched and are sure to serve up four entertaining games for the neutral. With the Final potentially being played at Portman Road, a victory on Saturday will keep the Senior Cup dream alive!
