Introducing Suffolk FA’s New Women’s & Girls Football Development Officer Sue Wells...

I would like to introduce myself as the new Girls & Women’s Development Officer for Suffolk FA and am looking forward to meeting everyone involved within the Girls and Women’s game in the county.

I have recently completed my Masters degree in Sociology of Sport and Exercise at the University of Chester where my research focus was specific to Women’s Football and I have been based in Chester for the past four years. Alongside my University education I worked as a coach for a company called Extra Time for 2 years before working with disadvantaged and homeless young people as a project worker before arriving here at Suffolk FA.

I have experiences within football at various levels and am actively involved as a player, coach, referee and volunteer within the game. My playing career includes Shrewsbury Town School of Excellence, T.N.S, Airbus UK Ladies and more recently within Suffolk for Haverhill Rovers Ladies.

My immediate targets will be to address growth and retention within both Girls and Womens Football as well as looking to make the game more flexible and to remove any barriers that there may be to participating within the Girls and Womens game.
