The FA Charter Standard Scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.
AFC Grassroots was started in September 2006 and can now boast 9 teams, from U’7s to U-15’s as well as managing a successful Ladies Team.
AFC Sudbury also offers free training for 4 to 6 year olds and continues to support local schools and special need groups within the community.
To celebrate this success, there will be a parade of AFC Grassroots during half-time of AFC Sudbury’s FA Trophy Cup match with Oxford United on Saturday 13th December.
To mark this special occasion Mr. Peter Cocker, the Vice President of the Suffolk Football Association and Chris Pringle, Suffolk County Development Manager will be presenting the Award to AFC Sudbury Chairman Keith Morris, AFC Grassroots Chairman Clive Golding and AFC Grassroots Secretary, Ben Davies.
Chris Pringle, County Development Manager for the Suffolk Football Association said;
‘I would like to congratulate AFC Sudbury on achieving the FA Charter Standard Development Club Award. The club has taken giant strides forward in the last 12 months to put together a Development Plan to outline the club’s aims over the next 5 years. It has been fantastic to see this work in progress, but more importantly to see the work which has been delivered already. The club as a result has a thriving youth section, excellent links into the local community, well qualified coaches and volunteer workforce and of course plans for facility development to accommodate the needs of the club in the future. With only 8 Community Clubs and 2 Development Clubs in Suffolk , AFC Sudbury should feel proud to have achieved the standard required of the award’.
The Board of Directors of AFC Sudbury would like to congratulate the AFC Grassroots Committee and their Qualified Coaches for the incredible efforts, dedicated hard work and determination to make this achievement possible.
During a year of great transition at AFC Sudbury, their commitment has been truly outstanding and they should be immensely proud of this Award. This is a massive boost to everyone connected to the club and the benefits for everyone in our community will become obvious in future years.
This Award will increase the clubs stature nationally and its reputation as a centre of coaching excellence. We believe this will now become a springboard for future successes.
