Skills Centre Off The Mark

9:47 AM, Thursday, 31 January 08. Skills Coaches

Local young players have the opportunity to impress FA Coaches as the latest FA Skills Centre got underway at Orwell High School in Felixstowe last week.

The Skills Centre, run by the FA Tesco Skills programme has been set up for local players aged 8-11 identified as “gifted and talented”, and will work alongside local clubs to provide the players with extra playing time as well as coaching to improve their long term development. It will focus not only on improving young player’s technical ability but also developing key movement skills such as agility, balance, co-ordination and speed which are vital elements to assist in a youngsters long term player development.

Head Coach Dan Pilcher commented “The centre has got off to a great start, the players are of a good standard with a great attitude, so hopefully we can help their development throughout the course of the programme and add to the great work already going on in this area”.
