Suffolk FA - developing football for everyone
Governance - safeguarding the game

Refereeing

Refereeing is not all about issuing players with red or yellow cards. Without officials the Beautiful Game would and could not take place. From local park football on a Sunday morning to the FA Cup Final, all football needs referees.

Referees perform a vital role in the game, and with the growth in the popularity of football, particularly for women and children, the demand for match officials is increasing.

Anyone can become a referee. All that is required is a passion for the game. You can qualify as a youth referee at 14 years of age or alternatively simply continue your own personal enjoyment of the game when your playing days are over.

There are many levels of referees, from Level 10 to International Level, to accommodate everyone from youth referee to those at the top level.

Suffolk County FA strongly advises all referees to become members of the Suffolk Referees’ Society.

If you wish to find out more about refereeing please contact the Referees’ Secretary, Tony Trevers, 01206 851579 or send an e-mail to tony.trevers@suffolkfa.com.

There is further information about refereeing on the FA web site at http://www.thefa.com/grassrootsnew/referee

Referee appointments

Referees: please remember to forward all closed dates to Tony Trevers, Referees' Secretary, as too many appointments are being declined because of closed dates he is not aware of.
