The James Hehir Ipswich Inter-Firm Cup

In 2008 Suffolk FA, in conjunction with Team Ipswich, re-launched a business sports competition called the Ipswich Inter-Firm Cup.

The Ipswich Inter-Firm Cup is an 11-a-side knock-out competition where companies and other organisations compete to become the elite business footballing team within the Ipswich area.

The competition brings people together to play and promote football and has created an important business network to support the town’s economic growth. It also provides an excellent opportunity for employees to interact outside of the work place.

Ipswich Postals won the competition in it's comeback year, defeating Ipswich Area Police 2-1 in the Final to claim the title of Ipswich Inter-Firm Cup Champions for 2008-09.

The 2009-10 season saw 16 organisations from around the Ipswich Area competing for the Cup.

It was Churchill who ran out victors, defeating holders Ipswich Postals 3-0 at Ransomes Sports Football Club in Ipswich.

The competition was re-named after one of the key men behind the relaunching of the Cup, former Ipswich Borough Council Chief Executive James Hehir, who tragically died in 2010.

The competition is once again running for the 2010-11 season, to enter please use the entry form under the related documents. The closing date for entries is Friday 10th September 2010.
