Suffolk Women's Football League

www.sgwl.org.uk

The women’s league was set up in response to the growing number of Girls football teams in the County and the need for a local competition for Suffolk-based teams. Now in its second season the Women’s league will fit into the base of the National League pyramid allowing teams the opportunity to progress all the way into the National Women’s Premier League

Five teams currently play in the women’s league, they are:

  • AFC Sudbury
  • Ipswich Town Women’s FC
  • Kirkley and Pakefield Ladies FC
  • Shotley Rose Ladies FC
  • Woodbridge Town Ladies FC

It is hoped that the League will continue to grow each season with the Suffolk Girls’ Football League under 16 teams moving up, and new Women’s football clubs and Suffolk-based teams supporting the County League.

For the 2007/2008 season the Suffolk Women’s League is taking part in a joint cup competition with the S-Tech Cambridgeshire Women’s League this season. This will enable a greater variety of opponents and develop links between the two counties. Tables and results from this Cup competition can be viewed at:

The SWFL has not yet secured the backing of any sponsors and would welcome anyone wishing to support the new league or cup competition.
