With over 147,000 affiliated players in over 8,000 teams recorded over the last year, there has never been a better time to get involved in girls’ and women’s football.
Currently, Suffolk has 17 women’s and 74 girls teams affiliated to 3 leagues within the county.
Suffolk FA aims to provide opportunities for girls’ and women to take part in football regardless of ethnicity, age and location in the County.
Taster football sessions and 3 Lions FC are available to develop girls football in schools with links being formed with local clubs.
In addition to the grassroots opportunities available to girls in the county, those players wanting to further develop their skills are catered for by the two player development centres based at Ipswich & Bury St Edmunds, and also Ipswich Town FC’s Girls’ Centre of Excellence.
Suffolk also has a women’s league, which enables players over the age of 16 the chance to play in a safe and friendly environment.
