Development - take your skills to the next level

Local young players have had the opportunity to impress two of the F.A Skills Coaches at Walmer Road, home of Kirkley and Pakefield F.C.

Jamie Godbold and Matt Potter took Kirkley and Pakefield U9 A and B teams over a 5 week period under the watchful eye of K&P Coaches. The sessions were primarily designed to develop the coaches and help utilise the FA ethos to develop their own players, thus putting the player’s development and progress before the ethos of ‘Win, Win, Win!!

The FA Coaches looked to educate the coaches and enhance the knowledge and understanding of the F.A’s 4 Corners of Long Term Player Development model, whilst adapting sessions to meet the needs of every individual.

Coaches Matt Potter and Jamie Godbold both commented “These Club visits are invaluable to the way the culture and coaching will change. This forms the make-up of how the game will be taken forward to help develop more creative, positive thinking players who will strive to be the best that they can be”

John Pitts, KPFC Club Founder & Youth Development Manager said “we were delighted that Jamie and Matt were able to run the sessions for us. The children loved the sessions and learnt a great deal. Our coaches took away from the sessions new themes and a very different mindset that will be invaluable in the future. Although we have very experienced coaches at the club – you never stop learning!!”

Kirkley and Pakefield F.C U9’s and Waveney U11’S Player Development Centre are just two of a number of clubs that have received this specialist training delivered by the F.A Skills Coaches in the County.

If you are a Charter Standard Club and would like to have one of your teams undertake this experience or would like to find out ore about the programme then you can log on to www.thefa.com/skills or contact Team Leader Jamie Godbold on 07943 -842506 or alternatively email on Jamie.godbold@thefa.com
