Football Development Funding

Funding eligibility for projects valued under 10K.

A guide to what can and cannot be funded from football funding sources:

We do not fund

Maintenance - Maintenance is anything that needs to be done on a regular basis. This therefore includes:

  • Re-turfing - seeding/sand dressing (unless they are part of a bigger drainage project)
  • Re-decorating
  • Mechanical machinery and capital items that are acquired second hand
  • Maintenance of equipment or machinery
  • Anything else of a temporary nature

We do fund

Capital replacement items if:

They have out lived there average life span – in most cases this being approx ten years and have been well maintained

You provide:

  • Photos of the whole building associated with the item
  • Brief maintenance history for the item
  • Brief proposed maintenance plan for the item

The FF may require a site visit by either FF staff or a nominated person (i.e. County FA staff) to ascertain the state of the building.

Mechanical Machinery if:

  • Three quotes (all MUST be quotes for the exact same machinery so it is possible to compare prices) are provided
  • Operator is qualified
  • Secure storage space for the machinery is provided (a secure storage area can be considered as part of the application if necessary).
  • The user must has a licence to use the machine
  • The user is insured

Prefabricated Modular buildings if:

  • Full planning consent is obtained
  • The building is steel framed
  • We would recommend they have a guaranteed design life of at least 15 years
  • Insurance is obtained
  • Changing rooms design meet FF Datasheet requirements
  • The building is new
  • Steel containers are not acceptable

Fencing

Reminder: If the fencing is above 1.8m then planning permission is essential (or a letter from the planning department outlining an application is not required).

Other areas

If a boiler (for example) is attached to changing rooms that don’t exactly fit the current football Foundation changing room specifications, it may still be considered as eligible for grant aid without the need to enforce other alterations to make the changing facilities compliant.

All projects of up to £10,000 require a minimum ten-year lease; there may be some discretion on the length of lease but applicants should check directly with the Football Foundation.
